Family and Home

I have never been one to be overly sentimental but the loss of my coven mother, Sasha, and sister, Irina, have brought a change. Since Garrett has become a part of my existence, there has been a dynamic shift. A whirlwind of emotion strikes me as I reflect on loss and gain, pondering family and its personal significance.

As I sit  in a favored clearing near our Denali residence, I recall centuries of roaming with…

Storytime: My Most Embarrassing Moment

From age 7-13, I would go to summer camp for 4 weeks at Camp Namanu, in Oregon. It was something I looked forward to every year and was a chance to reunite with friends I had since year one. The camp had a lot to offer. We went canoeing, hiking, fishing, zip lining and we would do crafts and gather around the campfire nightly and listen to stories.

During my last summer there, there was a dance near the end of the…

100 Years Ago.... The Easter Rising of 1916

Walking down the streets of Dublin looking around I can still see the bullet holes in the sides of statues and buildings.

Today is a day of remembrance.  One hundred years ago a small band (approximately 1250) of brothers and sisters decided to fight for our sovereignty.  It was taken…

The Perfect Future

Recently, I had a visitor who surprised me at work. He is the man I called mine for several years and then we went our separate ways. He moved to the city, taking a job in a lab. With his smarts, it didn't surprise me. I stayed behind of course, because we decided to see other people. I'm sure he had his share of dates and girlfriends since. I have gone on a few myself, but I have not found anyone that compares to him. And then he showed up at my work. Somehow, I always new that Eric and I…

Where I've Been

I've been away from Denali for the past couple of months. Sometimes, you just have to get away and recharge. Since my kind doesn't sleep, it is the best way to rid ourselves of our demons. Katie was with me for awhile, but then she had things to do, so she returned, while I stayed behind.

I spent the past few months tucked away in the mountains of Japan after acquiring an abandoned temple and turning it into a home. It is remote and the wildlife is plentiful. It is places like…

Festivities

As the Beltane festival approaches I can help but want to make something special for Jane. Every year she dances around the Maypole with our coven sisters, but this year I want her to wear the prettiest of flowers in her hair.

My sister is beautiful, don't get me wrong. She would be beautiful dressed in the dirtiest of rags, but she deserves to feel like the princess she is. As I look back to the photo of last years celebration I can't help but to let a smile fall on my lips. She… Continue

Time and Relief

Time is such a wondrous thing; it leaves just as fast as it comes. As a vampire time means little to nothing to us, it just exists. There is something that I wish I could forget, but no matter how long I stay a vampire, that memory is still burned into my brain. As I sit in my chambers, my mind is forced back to one of the select few memories I still have of my short human life.

The moments leading up to it have long…

A Blank Sheet of Paper

A blank sheet of paper an be one of two things. It can be utterly intimidating or so absolutely inviting. Lucky for me today it's the latter. I feel a little bit inspired…

Beginning to Wonder

So I've found a few more of Tiffany's poems. I am repetitively drawn to that damn box in the workshop. I KNOW I shouldn't but I can't stop myself. Her words are alive with…

8.5 Months Old

I went into Aerie's room this morning to find her standing in her crib with a sunshiny grin on her face that completely melted my heart. How can it be she's 8.5 months old…

51 Is So Much Fun

Wow. Who knew I'd be turning fifty one years old while expecting my 4th child? I surely didn't see that one coming. I guess I did see it coming but it just didn't sink in until…

Times, they are a Changin'

Dylan's song title comes to mind after yesterday's events. My wife (it still makes me smile like a teen to say those words... "my wife") came home feeling under the…
