Hello from Denali, Alaska and the Denali coven. I am Katrina, often called Kate, and my family consists of two sisters Carmen and Tanya, a brother Eleazar, and my love Garrett. There were others long ago when we resided in Slovakia but much has taken place since that time. To go back even further, I was born during the winter of 1025 AD. In my human existence, those I called my mortal family taught me to live off the land... and to fight, as that was necessary in those war-torn days for survival. Using my inner and outer strength seemed to come naturally and I learned tribal martial arts at an early age, eventually becoming a body guard for nobility within a Slavic tribe. It was this occupation which would lead to my new life. Our caravan was overcome by vampires and while I used every ounce of human strength to defend the others and myself, I was destined for immortality and turned by the one I would come to call mother, Sasha. I was later told the decision was made to change me based on my strength, courage, and tenacity as well as the fact I tended to have physical resemblances to the coven members. Unfortunately, myself and my sisters at the time… Tanya and Irina… would not have our mother in our lives very long, being taken from us for breaking vampiric law and changing a child into an immortal. The Volturi spared our lives because we had no knowledge of this act until it was far too late. I would come to lose a sister at a later time, in a strange coincidental manner. Irina mistook another child within our extended family, the Cullens, to be an immortal child and went to the Volturi with the accusation. Edward and Bella Cullen’s child, Renesmee, was proven to be born and not bitten; however, my sister’s life would be taken based on what was deemed a false accusation, not a mere misunderstanding. Both our mother and sister were forever lost over children of our kind, much different circumstances but coincidental nonetheless. Our lives continue without them but they will forever be sorely missed.

As a newborn vampire and years following, my family and I were no exceptions to the normal vampire lifestyle and would find our sustenance in the usual manner - from humans. Longing for companionship, we tended to create relationships and attachments with male mortals before feeding from them, eventually growing remorseful of this way of life. Tanya would introduce us to an alternative “vegetarian diet” which consisted of animals as nourishment and in time we embraced it, learning to coexist peacefully with humans. It was then we moved to Denali, Alaska, where wildlife was plentiful and the environment beautifully remote. Carmen and Eleazar would enter our lives not long after we were settled and become part of our family, also accepting this lifestyle choice as their own. We would soon meet the Cullen clan who shared this same way of living and strong attachments were created between the families. Our cousins, as they have come to be known, not long ago called upon our assistance in the misunderstanding between themselves and the Volturi over Renesmee. Once convinced she was not an immortal child, my family stood strongly by their side as witnesses along with several others of our kind. By sharing my gift of psychic electrokinesis which allows me to give an electric shock of whatever degree I choose through touch… with Bella, it enabled her to harness the newly discovered gift of being a shield, equipping her to use it effectively if ever needed. It was during this time I met a nomad among the others assembled as witnesses, Garrett, who little known to me at the time would turn out to be my immortal mate. We bonded in a very short time… he was curious of my gift and I… brought him to his knees. ~grins~ When uncertainty faced us both, Garrett vowed he would follow me anywhere and I held him to it. He became a part of our Denali family, over time embracing our lifestyle as well. I kept the dream alive of meeting someone who would fill the missing pieces within me and there he was - everything I had hoped. It is among our family and within each others arms that we have found our eternal home.
