Family and Home

[Katrina Denali]

I have never been one to be overly sentimental but the loss of my coven mother, Sasha, and sister, Irina, have brought a change. Since Garrett has become a part of my existence, there has been a dynamic shift. A whirlwind of emotion strikes me as I reflect on loss and gain, pondering family and its personal significance.

As I sit  in a favored clearing near our Denali residence, I recall centuries of roaming with our coven. There were a few locations we settled for an extended period. As long as we remained together as family, it did not matter where we found ourselves. The old cliche, "home is where the heart is", can be perceived as truth. My personal definition of home is where those whom I have developed unbreakable bonds, reside. Those I would do anything to protect. Denali, with my coven. Forks, with my extended family, the Cullens. In Garrett's arms. While locations may change over time, those I hold close will remain infinitely constant. My permanent home.

Such extraordinary love. My heart feels as if it beats once more. I cherish my family beyond words. Garrett, my love, we found each other and it's as if we were destined to do so. You have an eternal family and I have the fulfillment of all my hopes, in you. Beloved sister, my family has been missed as well... forever in my thoughts and my heart. My cup runs over.
