Such a place existed where vampires and humans live in harmony with one another.  My story began here, on the small island of Malta.  The existence of vampires has never been a secret to those I once called family.  My Uncle Luca taught me the ways of the vampire and in the year 1260, on my twentieth birthday, I became just like him.  I was not the first nor was I the last.  Many more followed my creation, including my cousin, Makenna.  Once changed, It did not take long for my unique ability to manifest itself.  Those who approached me seemed to suddenly forget where they were going and what they were doing, abandoning their purpose all together.  Luca saw the promise of my gift and hoped to utilize its advantageous protection against those who found the openly blended family of vampire and human to be less than ideal.

They called me a shield—the strongest anyone had ever encountered.

To Luca’s dismay, The Volturi took notice.  I became coveted—a prize to be won by the masters. To avoid conflict with the Volturi, I was willingly given to Aro, Caius, and Marcus.  This fated exchange solidified my place in this world.  I had found my true home, my true family, and my journey into this new found life was finally complete. 

I live now solely to protect my dearest master at all costs.  His wellbeing and safety is my primary concern, my ultimate focus as his personal bodyguard.  Whilst I remain at his side, not a single soul will lay a finger upon him.  Wherever Master Aro travels, I shall follow.  His faithful shadow in the darkness, you will never see me coming.  Be careful, or you may just lose your way…
