The value of compassion cannot be over-emphasized. Anyone can criticize. It takes a true believer to be compassionate. No greater burden can be borne by an individual than to know no one cares or understands.

It felt like a week had passed; his eyes burned as he repeated his question.
"Where have you been?" he said, voice unfaltering, hands folded neatly in his lap.
Without missing a beat, I lied, " I decided that since I couldn't sleep, it's too hot, that I would start my chores early." I waited eagerly for him to buy it. Surprisingly he did.
"Very good use of time, son." he nodded, gesturing for me to hand him the bucket of water on the hearth. Of course I…

Innocence Lost - part 1
I was 13 years old the first time I saw it. I followed them into the woods, keeping a safe distance when I heard the cries and saw them tear off his limbs and behead him, tossing his writhing body into the flames. I didn't dare move for fear that I would be next if they knew what I saw. I stood motionless for what felt like decades but really was merely seconds.
I backed up slowly, turned and ran barefoot back into the house. My father was a…

After a much needed hunt I headed north and came upon Jasper sitting alone in a small clearing. I attempted to speak with him about yesterday's incident. After our confrontation, Esme found us and words were spoken........
Carlisle - Jasper, you do realize the severity of the consequences we would have had to face if our family was exposed yesterday?
Jasper - *My hands tightening beside me into fists, ignoring the surroundings of us as my anger at this man…

Today was supposed to be a day of surprise and delight as I was planning to take Esme to Port Angeles to see a Matinee at the theatre. Jasper brought her to my work to save time and so that we had only one car to deal with. When he arrived, a trauma was brought in and the amount of time too great between now and his last hunt had finally taken it's toll...
Jasper - *Smelling the scent as the trauma patient is brought past me, covered in blood. My sight going blank, the burn in…

The Mother of my Children
The gift that you are
The love that you give
The words that you speak
The life that you live
The lives that you touch
The ones you hold dear
Not just once or twice
But each day all year
The core of our lives
The one who binds true
This family of ours
With all that you do
It may go unsaid
The love that we feel
I want you to know
It's…

It's impossible somedays to even hear myself think at work. We've been extremely busy lately what with budget cuts, the economy and the hiring freeze. I can see a point to a hiring freeze at some places of employment but at places that provide health care services, that's not exactly the smartest idea. When staff is cut, we all suffer. We suffer as the remaining, over-worked, stressed out employees and the patients suffer from lack of proper response time, fewer appointments and very…

We have a house guest, her name is Lizzie and she's been through a very traumatic ordeal. I felt it best that she stay with us where I can keep an eye on her and ensure her safety until at which time she is well enough to go out on her own and when I am sure that there is no further danger.
Most of the family are riled up because she is staying here. She's very appreciative and has been absolutely no work for any of us. Alice is enjoying her company as is Esme. Jasper and Rose are…

BIRTH OF AYASHA
Carlisle: *kneels down next to Emily, pressing lightly on her abdomen* I'm going to examine you again, same as last time, ok?
Sam: -holding your hand still I kneel back down beside you-
Emily: -nods as I stare into your eyes, trying to remember to breathe-
Carlisle: Breathe Emily
Emily: -inhales deeply as I look at Carlisle-
Carlisle: *examines her and smiles* Good girl, those…

Carlisle Cullen MD - Greetings, Caius *nods in respect*
Caius Volturi - *nods* Carlisle...
Carlisle Cullen MD - Nice to see you
Caius Volturi - is it...are you still choosing the MUTTS over your own kind?
Carlisle Cullen MD - *laughs and nods* Certain ones have proved themselves worthy of our loyalty, yes.
Caius Volturi - *sneers* so you are still a traitor
Carlisle Cullen MD - Some may view it that way
Caius Volturi - *smirks*…

We have arrived safely in Volterra. We were greeted by Aro and Caius and by the way things are going, I don't know when I will have another chance to write to you.
Aro has agreed to allow me to attempt peaceful negotiations whilst Caius is hell bent on bloodlust. I just hope I can do this my way as to avoind un-necessary conflict.
Edward, Bella, Emmett and Rosalie are here with Esme and myself and have declared their loyalties to the Volturi if a war should break out.
It doesn't…

10 things I have learned in 369 years
1. Compassion isn't all it's cracked up to be. It threatens to burst through my chest as I wrestle with intense feelings of emotion and concern.
2. Love is more intense than ever imagined. It grows more and more with each passing moment and no matter how much you love someone right now, that intensity will at least triple by tomorrow.
3 Even after 369 years, I STILL manage to put my foot in my mouth.
4. Sometimes…
