Shadows of a thousand years rise again unseen,
Voices whisper in the trees, "Tonight is Halloween!"
~Dexter Kozen
With the rising of the moon and the setting of the sun,
Best be on your guard now... as Halloween's just begun.
With the snap of a twig and the hoot of an owl,
Is that a child playing trick-or-treat..... or something more foul.
Everyone knows that it's just for a laugh,
but just to be safe.... better stick to the path.
The moon climbs higher and casts a glow over all,
but the shadows still lurk.... so you better not fall.
As the hour grows late, so does the weight of your bag,
So you turn and head for home... for there are treats to be had.
The air takes on a chill as you walk home in the dark,
but you dare not look back or cut through the park.
You head up the path, your door now in sight,
but beware of what haunts you this halloween night.
