When I was a child my fondest memory was when I was 7 and it was Christmas time and my family followed the traditions that we always carried out every year. They began just before December 1st and my mother, sisters and I set aside special evenings for baking spiced cakes and cookies, and making gifts and decorations. Little dolls of fruit are traditional Christmas toys.

During the month of December most evenings were spent baking and I remember helping my mother and sisters make beautiful gingerbread houses and cookies. We also made the German Christmas tree pastry, Christbaumgeback, is a white dough that was molded into shapes and baked for tree decorations.

Up until I was turned I loved this time for year and even after my sisters married and left home they would still come back at Christmas time to help my mother and I with our family traditions And if I had still been human I would have passed on these traditions to my children but life is always unexpected and I wouldn't change what I have now.
