Make no mistake..

My brother and I are used to solitude. It's simply a way of existence for us. We're unable to stay in one place very long due to circumstances with the Volturi. They wiped out almost our entire coven. I feel vengeance for them yet a sort of pity as well. They call themselves the lawmen of the vampire race. I believe it's a front. Who put them in charge anyway? They are full of themselves to the point of even considering themselves as saints. What's all the hullabaloo about St. Marcus Day? I…

Water has been restored to the estate

The wells have been dug out and the water in the house is once again running clear. The process by which a well is dug is very simple and primitive.

To Begin digging the well you need to be sure it is roughly five feet across in a circular shape. The digging of a well can be a very dangerous process and takes at least two people. One person…

Surrounded by Nature

I’ve always loved hanging around in the woods ever since I was small, but with my life changing completely five years ago, I took on a whole new view on the forest surrounding us. I started to see and hear things in a way I never would have imagined. Listening to the sounds of the insects and animals all around is an experience in itself.

I like also that all this… Continue

The Angel Oak.

There are memories that we have from our childhood that we keep with us till the day we die. This is one of those memories....

Every summer for as long as I could remember was spent holidaying on the Res, but not this year... I had just turned 11 and we were going to Charleston, South Carolina to visit family. I was the first one packed and immediately started bugging everyone to see if they were ready yet and if not...then why and how much longer did they think they would be.… Continue

Remembering Madelaine.

Everyone likes chocolate right? Well not everyone I'm afraid... I know I did once upon a time but that was 311 years ago and remembering human food is just not in the equasion of treasured memories... However as I strolled by the shop windows I caught sight of something that took me back in time the best part of 160 years. They were in the shape of tiny hearts, wrapped in foil and presented in an array of colours.…

The White Hawk

Imagine my delight as I gazed up from my perch high atop a tree in the north east corner of the Hoh Rainforest here in Clallam county. She is a Red Tail Hawk. She is not a pure albino but is classified under the term, 'Leucism'. Leucism is a term many consider more accurate than “partial albino.” A true albino would have pink eyes and pale bill and feet. The feathers on… Continue

Who says boys have more fun.

Jake and I have decided to do a few more unconventional things together. Or coming to think of it maybe, it is the typical thing that couples do. Anyway, we decided to go and see some expo's that was showing in Seattle and make a day out of it.… Continue

Our Current Residence

Suceava district of Romania is known for it's touristic value and potential. This is pleasing for myself and Vladimir as we can safely hunt and go about our existence with little threat to being discovered. Within a short distance from the mansion, one can find the famous Romanian monastaries of Sucevita, Varatec, Agapia. The region is known also for its forests which cover 40%… Continue

My Livelihood and Passion

Art

Vampires have incredibly heightened senses. With that comes the immense pleasure that we get when using them.Vladimir collects fine wine and I collect art. It makes for a very compatible existence. Though it is part of my livelihood it is also aesthetically pleasing and gives me great pleasure. I have a vast collection of fine art that I have amassed while on the move. …

Paris France, land of love & mystery....

Paris, France. The perfect romantic destination. The Eiffel Tower, Champs Elysees, The Arc du Triomphe all within reach. Or not.

I stand here on Champs Elysees trying to get my wits about me. My mind is a whirl of unrest, angst and worry. My wife, our daughters and friends have been taken to Volterra against their wishes being accused of murders they surely did not commit. I know though, that my boys are more than capable of taking care of the situation while I, along with Liam, Sio,…

A little story about Conflict Resolution

A very wise man once told me,"Being willing to change allows you to move from a point of view to a viewing point -- a higher, more expansive place, from which you can see both sides."

I try so very hard to live by these words. I admit, sometimes it's not easy. Conflict is all around us. The fact that it affects us is due to OUR acceptance. If we simply accept it, there it is. Learning to embrace it and manipulate it to a positive outcome is what needs to be done.

It's…

An Afternoon Together.

Curled up on the couch next to Eleazar, I couldn't help but smile to myself as more abuse was hurled at the tv. Who was playing that day? I didn't care to ask, but my husband sat nervously turning a hockey puck over & over in his hand as I continued to scroll through the countless images of gardens I had found online. Some of the images had been taken in the fall and the beautiful red and gold leaves of a stunning Japanese maple had caught my eye. The tree was not exceptionally big and I… Continue

What a dream!

I don’t remember having ever had a stranger dream than the one I had recently… I’m not even sure I understand it myself. Mark was playing around the apartment with his hockey puck that his dad gave him when he was a kid when he started telling me about some random memory of the turtle his sister had when she was a kid… I don’t want to know what tricks he pulled on his annoying sister and her pet. Next thing I know, Caroline appears out of nowhere telling me she got a job at the local club as a… Continue

Dreams of the future

Love is always in abundance around me. You don’t just find it in the love my family have for one another. You only have to look at Grandpa and Grandma, Aunt Rose and Uncle Emmett, Aunt Alice and Uncle Jasper. Not forgetting my Mom and Dad.

It has…

Daddy's little girl

He was the first one to understand me. He was the one who loved me instantly and who went to all extreme’s to keep me safe. His hands where the ones who held me and his eyes looked upon me for the first time. He is my Dad. My Hero.

There is a bond between us something so strong and fragile at the same time. A bond I treasure with all my heart. Of course at times it gets…

Not your average girl

There is this little coffee shop in town. I love going there and the owners know me quite well. They have this cozy nook where I usually have a cup of coffee or hot chocolate. I love sitting there watching the girls and boys walk past. Wondering how it would be to be friends with them. How it would be to be your average teenage girl.

I look like your average 16 year old…

Dear Mom

Today I went into town. I felt like just taking a break and go for a nice cup of coffee. While I was sitting at my table paging through a magazine, a pregnant lady walked in. I think she must be quite close to full term.

But what I noticed more was the look in her eyes. The happiness and contentment. I watch as she softly rubbed her hand across her tummy and smiled.

I found myself smiling. I think I have been thinking a lot about my birth these days with my…

A Letter to Santiago

My Heart

He holds me close, he whispers my name
Resting my head on his shoulder
Feeling his touch on my skin, I close my eyes
He kisses my cheek, my eye's sting with tears that will never come

My heart hurts for the love that I feel
The hurt is my constant reminder of him
I hold it close, dare I should lose it!
But no matter the cost, I will pay the price
Freedom holds no peace, for he is not there
My heart is my prison.
His smile the only key.
