!!!!!!CALLING ALL PRAYER WARRIORS!!!!!
Brooklyn has been battling some pretty serious health issues..... My plea to you is to stop what you're doing and say a prayer for her and her family the moment you read this!
Brooklyn is a four year old little girl who has been faced with numerous obstacles since birth. Brooklyn was born in May of 2008 with rare medical occurrences including a multi-cystic dysplastic kidney, two dislocated hips, cupped ears, loose skin, and extreme hyper-flexibility in her joints. All of Brooklyn’s joints, including her shoulders, knees, hips, ankles and fingers are very loose. Her hips have been, thus far, the only joints that have required surgery. To date, Brooklyn has had three major surgeries on her right hip and one on her left hip. Her non functioning kidney is all but dissolved. Brooklyn wears orthotics for her feet and ankles. In December of 2009 Brooklyn was finally diagnosed with a condition called Kabuki Syndrome, which is an extremely rare condition that is responsible for all of her anomalies. Until then, doctors were clueless as to what had caused Brooklyn’s differences. There are very few known Kabuki cases worldwide; making Brooklyn an extra special little girl.
In June of 2011, Brooklyn was diagnosed with another rare condition call Systemic Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis. Since June, Brooklyn has had several admissions to Children’s Mercy Hospital to treat this disease. She is on several different medications, some of which she has to travel frequently to Children’s Mercy to receive by way of infusion. In March of 2012 Brooklyn fough
t the biggest battle yet, as her arthritis flared out of control, and she went into Macrophage Activation Syndrome (MAS), and was literally fighting for her life. MAS is severe life threatening complication of her Systemic Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis. Brooklyn is currently receiving treatment from 13 different specialist at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City.
