"Race For The Cure - Tuesday 7th December"

[Carmen Denali]

Carmen: *cradles Abbi gently in my arms as she holds onto my hand* Hey there baby girl, *smiles softly as her eyes flutter open again & I continue to sing her favourite lullaby*

Siobhan: *taking Liam's hand, I smile at him as I listen to Carmen sing*

Liam: *Sittin' with Sio as we watch Carmen playin' with Abbi*

Eleazar: *sitting next to Carmen watching her with Abbi looking somber, concerned about the situation at hand & hoping our friends can offer some aid*

Katie: *sitting by the window with Garrett watching Carmen with Abbi hoping for the best*

Tanya: *Sitting on the bottom step of the stairs looking on as I see Abbi's eyes flutter open and I sigh*

Carmen: *looks to Eleazar as Abbi's eyes flutter again & slowly falls back to sleep, her breathing, low, whispers* When do you think they will arrive? *trying to keep the anguish from my voice*

Eleazar: *checking the time* I expect soon love. Kachiri said they were leaving straightaway when i called. *putting an arm around your shoulder*

Kachirir: *sighs as you pull into the Denali drive, wondering why they need my help*

Carmen : *nods slowly continuiing to whisper* Ok, I hope they get here soon *leans into you as I lift Abbi closer to me*

Zafrina: *echos Kachiri's sigh as I look beyond wondering whats going on*

Eleazar: *squeezing your shoulder hoping to offer some small comfort to you*

Kachiri: *softly smiles in your direction as you park the car* well, lets go find out what they need.

Zafrina: *nods* Yes, lets find out indeed *frowns a little*

Tanya: *Hears a set of tires on the drive* Ele? Carm? I believe they are here.

Katie: *looking our the window nodding* I can see the lights to the car they're here.

Kachiri: *steps out of the car and heads towards the front steps, stopping and knocking quickly on the door*

Eleazar: *nodding hearing the car approach standing up heading towards the door to greet them* Thank god.

Carmen: *sighs with relief & smiles down at Abbi, knowing the wait is now over *

Zafrina: *Following close behind Chi*

Carmen: *listens intently, for the sounds of our guests entering*

Liam: *Puts me arm around Sio as I watch Maggie in the hall*

Siobhan: *leaning into Liam, I look at the door waiting for Zafrina and Kachiri*

Tanya: *Stands slowly and moves over towards Carm and Abbi; kneeling down to the floor*

Carmen: *smiles hopefully at Tanya* Keep your fingers crossed sis.

Eleazar: *opening the front door looking somber* Hi Zafrina, Kachiri, thank you for coming on such short notice. Please come in. *moving so you can enter*

Kachiri: *nods* of course Eleazar *moving inside* What is going on?

Zafrina: *Follows Chi closely, frowning slightly* Indeed Eleazar what is wrong?

Tanya: *Pats carms leg* Everything will be fine sis *smiles softly* You will see *turns towards Abbi rubbing her cheek with my finger tips* She is strong.

Eleazar: *leading you into the living room, letting you take in the sight of Carmen and the small child* We...have a dire situation on our hands...

Carmen: *nods silently to Tanya* strong enough....*stopping mid sentence as Kachiri & Zafrina enter the room*

Zafrina: *Looking at Carmen, then to the child.* Eleazar.....?

Katie: *nodding to Zafrina and Kachiri keeping close to garrett feeling his hand in mine squeezing it knowing things will get better*

Carmen: *takes a steadying breath, hoping they will understand*

Kachiri: *looks between Carmen, the child and then back to Eleazar* um...what's going on? *motioning to the child* who is this?

Carmen: *sighs* Kachiri, I'm so sorry to ask for your help like this but we didn't know who else to turn to.

Liam: *Watches warily as Zafrina and Kachiri enter, not sure how this will play out*

Carmen: *glances tenderly at Abbi before continuiing* This is Abbi and she's very sick, *falters slightly* she's.... my friend.

Zafrina: *Stiffens a little as Carmen speaks* Friend...? *noting the sour scent that hangs about little Abbi*

Siobhan: *grasping Liam's hand tighter, I watch Zafrina and Kachiri take in the sight of Abbi*

Eleazar: *nodding to both Kachiri and Zafrina* Yes Abbi is her friend and she is very very ill. We're sure she has a form of curable rabies, but we've yet to find the proper remedy.

Katie: *looking to Zafrina and Kachiri keeping a close eye on both hoping the tension in the room will die down and the focus once again will be on getting the child well*

Kachiri: *looking to Eleazar and back to the child in Carmen's arms*

Zafrina: *Frowns* The poor dear

Carmen: *rushes on, hoping to calm any fears you may have* I don't want you to get the wrong idea *looking to both Kachiri & Zafrina* I have no intention of turning her... no matter the outcome

Tanya: *Looks up to Carmen at her words with a sad smile; knowing the anguish I had put her through in the beginning*

Carmen: I found her lost in the forest months back & I just couldn't help it, once I saw how she lived, her foster parents *shakes my head sadly* I've been sneaking away for months to play with her *looks to you both pleadingly* Please try to understand.

Zafrina: *sighs a little, looking to Kachiri*

Kachiri *glancing over to Zafrina, then looking back to Carmen* what can we do to help?

Zafrina: *Nods to Kachiri and looking to Carmen a smile pulling at the corner of my lips*

Carmen: *looks to both hopefully* Thank you so much *glances at everyone quickly* We are hoping you can help her, I know you have done a lot of research at home on so many different things.

Siobhan: *handing Chiri my set of printouts, I lean back against Liam, taking his hand again*

Liam: Kachiri, while tryin' te help, I found some info about new cures found down in the Amazon *I lean forward enough te hand the print outs te Chi, then settle back against Sio* What do ye think?

Liam: *I wrap me arm back around Sio and wait for Chi te look over the papers*

Katie: *looking to Kachiri hoping she can help us find the cure to what we're thinking the little girl has looking to garrett smiling as he smiles back silently letting me know all will be well*

Eleazar: *squeezing Carmen's shoulders as Kachiri reads, hoping she can offer us some help*

Carmen: *smiles up at Eleazar hopefully & looks back to Kachiri as she continues to read*

Zafrina: *Glancing at the papers in Chi's hands. But merely shrugging and looking at Abbi curiously*

Kachiri: *takes the handouts and looks them over* yes, I've heard of some of these studies *looks around at everyone* but I've personally never studied them *looks at Carmen and the child* It might be best if I do my own research and try to help the child.

Carmen: Anything Kachiri, I'd be most grateful for any help you can offer.

Zafrina: *Nodding* It might be best indeed sister. *looking to Carmen* We will do what we can. *smiles*

Eleazar: *nodding in agreement with Carmen* And we're willing to help you any way we can. Thank you so much for at least trying...we are truely grateful.

Carmen: *smiles warmly to both Kachiri & Zafrina* Thank you

Kachiri: It might be best if the child is taken to the Amazon...I have more books down there and I will have better access to the natural herbs from the rainforest.

Carmen: *instantly looks from Kachiri to Eleazar* We need to go down there *whispers* I can't lose her, please.

Eleazar: *looking to Carmen nodding* We'll go love. We just have to work out Abbi's paperwork, we'll have to get fake documents for her *running a list in my head* We'll work it out.

Zafrina: *Looking at Abbi and Carmen, concern crossing my features*

Carmen: *smiles softly back to Eleazar* Thank you

Eleazar: *nodding, standing up kissing you on the forehead* I'm just going to go get our things ready and the documents for Abbi, we'll leave as soon as we can.

Siobhan: *looking at Carmen and Eleazar* Would you like for us to go along to see if we can help? We can do research for you and help gather things.

Katie: *hearing the conversation realizing we're heading to the amazon pulling Garret off upstairs to pack our things so we'll be ready*

Carmen: *smiles & nods in agreement with Eleazar* Ok darling, *turns to Sio* I'll never be able to thank you Sio, I'd be eternally grateful for yours, Liam's & Maggie's company

Liam: *I nod to Maggie as she slips away to gather our things*

Kachiri: *looks over at Zafrina* we best call Senna and let her know so she can get the house ready.

Tanya: *Stands nodding to Carmen and the rest of our company* To the Amazon it is then *smiles briefly at everyone and heads towards the stairs to pack my things*

Zafrina: *nods* Yes we better give her a ring.

Carmen: *nods to Tanya smiling* Thank you sister.

Siobhan: *smiling* We are happy to help, Carmen. Anything for you and your family. Besides, Abbi is such a dear.

Tanya: *Smiles Softly* Anytime and anything for you sister *heads up the stairs*

Carmen: *glances down at Abbi again, her face angelic as she sleep on, whispers * She is isn't she *looks up to Tanya smiling as she disappears*

Kachiri: *smiles to Carmen* Zafrina and I are going to step outside to call Senna *touching your arm* everything is going to be okay

Zafrina: * Nods assuringly to Carmen*

Kachiri: *motioning to Zafrina to follow me, as we head outside to call Senna*

Eleazar: *finishing up the packing gathering all the necessary paper work, coming back downstairs, setting our bags down & moving back over to carmen sitting next to her* All set love.

Carmen: Thank you so much, both of you *smiles to both of you*

Zafrina: *Follows Kachiri outside, anticipating the call to Senna*

Tanya: *Quickly packs a few things in a small bag and heads back down the stairs; sets down the small tote next to the door and leans against the frame*

Carmen: *notes our luggage waiting & Tanya's return, my hope returning* We're all set then, just our flights?

Siobhan: *Looking at Liam, then at Carmen* Liam and I will start calling about flights for us all. The first ones out.

Carmen: *nods gratefully* Thank you both.

Liam: *Smiles as Maggie joins us, our small suitcases in hand* Thank ye, Maggie-mine *I whisper*

Eleazar: *nodding to Carms hearing Katie and Garrett come downstairs with their things* we've got everything ready to go Carmen.

Carmen: *leans back a little, trying to relax but wishing we were already on our way*

Eleazar: *knowing what you're thinking squeezing your shoulder* We'll be on our way very soon love. She'll be ok.

Carmen: *looks back to Eleazar smiling* I'll do my best to stay patient, promise.

Eleazar: *squeezing you closer nodding knowing you're doing your best* I know love I know.

Siobhan: *handing Eleazar the piece of paper with the flight information* Here we go. We just need to get to the airport.

Eleazar: *taking the paper work from Sio* Thank you so much *standing up* Alright, i think we've got everything *seeing Tanya come downstairs with her things* I think we're ready, yes Carmen?

Carmen: *holds Abbi closer to me as I stand careful not to wake her* Ready & Thank you Sio

Siobhan: *standing and following Liam and Maggie to the car*

Eleazar: *placing my hand on the small of your back, leading you towards the door* Alright love, the sooner we go the better.

Carmen: *smiles* Agreed *pauses by the door as you collect our luggage, smiling as Tanya opens the door for me & we all head out to the car*

Eleazar: *getting in the car driving off towards the airport giving you a hopeful smile* it's going to work out my love. Abbie will be ok. I have faith.
