My Darling, Sitting here awaiting our next deployment has been hell. There is no place that I would rather be than with you. I was hoping that we would be granted a day or two leave but that is not possible. I was wishing for Christmas to be spent with you. My heart breaks knowing that you and Edward will be spending another Christmas alone and that I will be unable to hold you in my arms on Christmas morning. I do have an advantage over the others as I have your love to carry with me even on the darkest of days. I feel lost, crestfallen and very alone but I do carry the with me the knowledge that I WILL see you and Edward again. Sadly, the rest of my battalion do not have that confidence. I have tried to be a good friend to them during this difficult time. Christmas without our families is rough but we are holding tight to hopes and memories of Christmases past. Please give my love to Edward and remember that you are always in my heart. I miss you and will write soon. I would write more now but in order to get this letter to you by Christmas it needs to go through censorship before the next hour and then will be sent straight away. You are my strength.
