You rescue me, save me, you take me away
when I can't cope with this void in my soul one more day.
You help me make sense out of being alive
and give me direction on how to survive.
You touch me at night and creep into my dreams
and whisper that nothing appears as it seems.
You lead me through nightmares while holding my hand
and fill me with answers I don't understand.
You let me find angels wherever I seek
and keep me from demons whenever I'm weak.
You show me such visions I can't comprehend
and reveal new beginnings when I've come to an end.
You lay down a path when I'm losing my way
and embrace me with light when everything's grey.
You measure out pain so I'm able to grow
and lift me up high when my spirit is low.
You let me fly free, then allow me to fall
but I know you will catch me whenever I call.
You remain with me through the life I make
and provide me with wisdom at every mistake.
You teach me compassion and how to care
in a world where tenderness is rare.

And when all your lessons I have learned,
and by your side a place I've earned,
you'll hold me tight and stroke my face
and entice me to a higher place.
You'll make me a promise of great delights;
of miracles, love and mysterious sights.
You'll kiss my lips on my final breath
and tease me with the ascension of death.
And when I've finally ended my earthly roam,
you'll take my hand and guide me home.
