Carmen: *walks slowly back along the drive having picked up the mail sorting as I go, pausing as I see one addressd to Eleazar from the car hire company we use* Well thats odd *confusion reigns as I tear open the envelope & begin reading*
Carmen: *freezing instantly as dozens of thoughts race through my mind before coming to a conclusion which is my biggest fear imaginable, whispering* No *breaks from my trance & blurs back to the house racing inside shouting for Katie* Katie, where are you?
Katie: *looks up from my book, hearing the panic in your voice* In here!
Carmen: *blurs up the stairs into your room* Katie, look, please look at this, It's an invoice from our car hire company...It says Ele took a car to the airport, sis he wouldn't just leave, he wouldn't
Katie: *takes the invoice from you, shows it the Garrett as we read it* what?! *looks up at you* no of course not, he would never leave you like that, he loves you too much
Carmen: *takes a steadying breath as I look to you both, not knowing how to tell you* I think,.... well after what happened last time, I think "they" took him..Well threatened him at the very least just as they did to us last time, I know they want him back.
Katie: *grabs Garrett's arm as he growls, holding back a growl myself* That is very plausable, Aro has always wanted Eleazar to be back with them
Carmen: *nods slowly* He does, he has... I'm not staying here & doing nothing, I can't, I have to go no matter what it costs me.
Katie: *looks at Garrett and nods, looking back at Carms* We're going with you and we should phone Tanya, she ought to know about this
Carmen: *looks at you both* I can't ask this of you, I love you all & I can't bear to see you in danger also.
Katie: *stands, looking at you, holding on to Garrett's hand* Carmen, we're not expecting you to ask us, we're going whether you like it or not. Eleazar is our brother and I personally can't stand to sit here and wait for word and if Tanya was here, you know very well she would say the same thing. *looks from Garrett to you* We're coming with you and we will bring Eleazar home!
Carmen: *sighs & agrees reluctantly* Ok guys, thank you both, can you please organise tickets & I'll call Tanya
Katie: *nods* of course *pulls you into a hug* we'll bring him back *pulls away and nods to Garrett as he goes to pack our bags* I'll go get the tickets *grabs my phone to arrange a flight*
Carmen: *returns your hug* thanks Katie *heads out into the hall & pulls out my cell, dialing Tanya's number, dread filling me as I wait for her to answer*
Katie: *walks around the room, tossing things at Garrett while he packs, speaking with the man from the airport on the phone trying to arrange us a flight*
Tanya: *walks in off the balcony hearing my phone, smiling I set down my sketch pad and grab my phone seeing its Carm and answers* Well hello Sis! What do I owe the honors?
Carmen: *closes my eyes at the sound of your voice* Tanya, I'm sorry to phone you like this, but somethings happened.
Tanya: *Frowning I take a seat on the couch, my brows furrowed in concern* What happened!! Carmen...
Carmen: *walking a little further away* Eleazar is missing & I fear "they" have forced him to go with them, similar to last time. *shaking my head as the words keep echoing inside my head*
Tanya: *Stifles a growl, trying to keep quiet* When..when did you last see him, and why do you think he disappeared? He has been rather busy at work, maybe a trip to relax? *rambles on trying to remain positive*
Carmen: *shakes my head sadly* No sis, I haven't heard from Ele in over 3 days now, I've left messages & called, he doesn't answer his phone. He would never not answer my calls or not call me, not knowing how worried I am
Tanya: *Nods* I agree Carm, Ele would never do that to any of us and definitely not you. *stands up and paces around the room* Why do you think "they" took him? *mutters to myslef* Considering the interest they have for him...hmm
Carmen: Yes Tanya, Aro wants Ele with him, he always has.
Tanya: Carmen? *asking but already knowing what the answer will be* Are you going?
Carmen: *whispers my voice catching* Yes sis
Tanya: *Sighs at the confimation* And what of Katie and Garrett?
Carmen: *nods* Well they both "told" me they are coming regardless of my wishes, and that I had to call you too.
Tanya: Of course..I would not expect anything less *takes in a deep breath holding it before letting it out slowly* Well then it is decided..What time do I need to be at the airport in Italy?
Carmen: I haven't got times yet sis, I just know Katie is getting us on the next available flight by any means possible, so I can call you with updates on the way to the airport, ok.
Katie: *thanks the man again before hanging up the phone having arranged for us to be on the next flight to Italy, looking at Garrett as he pulls me into a hug, whispering to me that everything will be okay*
Tanya: Yes, Carmen please do. I will book a flight and meet you there. And Carm? Be safe..for all of you, please. *gritts my teeth regretting not being there for them*
Carmen: *nods as I walk slowly back to Katie & Garrett's room* We will, we'll see you soon, Love you sis.
Tanya: Love you too Carm, give Katie and Garrett my love as well *sighs once again* He will be ok Carmen.
Carmen: I know Tanya *wishing I had the strength to sound more confident* I'll be sure to give them both your love also, Bye sis, talk to you soon.
Tanya: Goodbye Carm *hangs up and growls slightly*
Carmen: *hangs up the phone & heads back into the room* How did we go with the flights?
Katie: *looks up as Carmen as she comes in the room* I've got us on the first flight out tonight *nods as Garretts goes to get us the car*
Carmen: *nods* Ok well I'll be back in 2 mins with my bags, I'll meet you both in the car ok & thank you Katie. *blurs from the room, down the hall into mine, grabbing my overnight bag, throwing in what I need, before grabbing my passport & blurring back downstairs to the waiting car, sliding into the back seat*
Katie: *sits next to you in the car* carmen, I was just thinking maybe you should call the Cullens, since Carlisle and Eleazar are such good friends, he shouldn't hear about this second hand
Carmen: No Katie, your right, thank you, I don't know what I would do without you both right now.
Katie: *smiles, rubbing your arm as the car heads towards the airport*
Carmen: *pulls out my cell again dialling the Cullens house, taking your hand in mine as I wait for someone to answer*
Esme: *Rushing down the stairs as the house phone rings, answering with a pleasant tone as always* Cullen Residence.
Carmen: Esme! *takes a steadying breath as I realise how anxious I am about breaking the news* Is Carlisle there please?
Esme: *Smiling for a moment before I hear the tone to your voice, my face falling as I sense your urgency* No, I'm sorry Carmen. Carlisle has been detained at work. Is something wrong?
Carmen: *nodding automatically as I squeeze Katies hand for comfort* I wish I could say no Esme, but Eleazar's missing & I'm certain that he's been forced to go back to Volterra
Esme: Forced? To Volterra? *Alarm beginning to rise in my voice* How can this be? Carmen.. are you sure?
Carmen: I am Esme, I haven't heard from Ele in 3 days & he's not answering his phone or returning any of my messages *sighs* Thats just something he's never done before, we call everyday when we're apart and he knows I would be worried by now.
Esme: *Pacing about the living room as I speak, keeping my words calm and collect* That doesn't sound like Eleazar at all. *Sighs* He would never just disappear. What can we do? How can we help?
Carmen: I need you there, I promise to call you with any news I have.
Esme: *Nodding in response* I will alert Carlisle to the news, and perhaps speak with Alice. Carlisle and Eleazar have been friends for such a long time.. this will not sit well with him. Please Carmen, I'm begging you... keep in touch.
Carmen: *softens my voice* I promise Essie & thank you for this, I can't thank you enough.
Esme: You never need to thank me, old friend. *Pausing for moment* Carmen.. I have known you for many years, so please tell me the truth..Your intent is to travel to Volterra, isn't it?
Carmen: *pauses briefly before confirming* It is Essie, you know I have to *my voice catching* I have to do this.
Esme: *Closing my eyes tightly, the strain to your voice heartwrenching to my ears* I know. If it were Carlisle, I would not hesitate. Your family is accompanying you, I take it? I cannot have you going alone if you wish for my family to remain here .
Carmen: *nods, looking over to Katie catching her eye briefly* I really didn't have a choice in the matter & Tanya is meeting us at the airport when we reach Italy.
Esme: *Opening my eyes, a deep seeded need for your safety washing over me* You must stay together, and use caution. We will be there in hours if I do not hear from you. Promise me you will keep in contact.
Carmen: I promise Essie *a sad smile forming* I would never let you worry like that & thank you again.
Esme: Please, do not ever thank me, Carmen. We always watch over each other. *Glancing to the window, hoping Carlisle returns sooner than later* I will let the family know. Take care, my friend.
Carmen: *smiles softly inspite of my pain* Thank you Essie, I will call you as soon as possible.
Esme: *Sighing through my words* Thank you. Please be safe. *Hangs up the phone, dread building as my thoughts spin out of control, needing Carlisle and Alice home now.*
Katie: *squeezes carmen's hand as I lean my head on her shoulder* it will be okay Carmen.
Carmen: Bye Essie *hangs up the phone, the fact of not knowing unbearable, nodding to Katie, no longer trusting myself to speak & rest my head on Katie's squeezing her hand in return*
