*smiles* My name is Carmen Martinez and I'll share with you what I remember of my human life.
I was born in May 1704 in Zaragoza an ancient city in northeastern Spain. I grew up knowing only the love of my madre Alendro Anieli Flores. According to the birth registrar of Spain. I was named Carmencita meaning "song". I knew nothing of my father growing up, it was as though he never existed and my mother never spoke of him. My madre was a loving and caring woman, her love of life and all things of natural beauty.... first inspired my love of painting. We would watch struggling artists painting on the streets of our wonderful city, marveling at their natural talent. It was always a dream of mine to paint.... a dream that I held close to my heart always, something even on my darkest days, I never forgot!
Tragically, I lost my madre at the young age of 13, we were staying at Villerdompardo, I was serving in the kitchen, when my mother was attacked by the wealthy owner. I will never forget her screams, and as I fled and I knew in my heart she was lost to me. I would never see her again. I was lucky enough to be taken in by a loving family who had a daughter my age, they loved me and raised my as their own.
Fast forwarding to the winter of 1727, I was 23 years old. Now...this is where my life altered beyond anything I could have imagined and 307 years later, I am still 23 years old, well physically.... and through a series of events I found my self once more being welcomed into a family with a difference. The Volturi, where I met my Eleazar and my life would never be the same. He is simply.. my only reason for existing now. Living with the Volturi soon took it's toll though and eventually we left our family and went out on our own. We settled in Vienna and on our first Christmas eve... Eleazar got down on one knee and proposed. It was the most perfect moment of my life and I wanted to treasure every second of it. Seconds to a vampire are not like seconds to a human though and as the seconds passed, the look on Eleazar's face was priceless, I think he was actually worried. Of course I said, "yes". We eventually found a family of vampires in Denali Alaska, and I say family because they did not live like any coven we had seen. They survived.. thrived even, completely on a vegetarian diet. And that is how we met our wonderful Denali family. We quite happily settled down here and lead the happy and peaceful existence we both were searching for.
Around the world many families have just celebrated Easter and like so many other special occasions, families reunite and spend much needed time together. At least that is what we aim to do, but as hard as we try... Sometimes things do not always work out.
We are an example of one such family this year... After decades of celebrating holidays, birthdays, anniversaries and the like, this year we couldn't have been further apart. Well physically speaking that is... With Tanya away…

There is never anything quite so wonderful, as catching up with old friends. If the friendship is true, then no amount of time apart will diminish it's value, or the excitement one feels when faced with the prospect of a reunion.
Like everyone I have friends, however... unlike everyone else, some of my friends are paintings. How do I explain that to you so that…

Softer than a summer breeze, with a touch like no other.
With a brilliance so blinding, each feathers caress so tender, so soft.
The warmth and reassurance of such an embrace, no words could describe.
It could only be heaven sent... Those are the wings of an Angel.
I knew from the moment our eyes met, from the first touch of our finger tips.…

The musical sound of Katie and Garrett’s laughter drifted down into the studio, as I sat distracted for once, from my latest piece. Tanya’s exasperated, “Go away you two” instantly brought a smile to my face as Katie and Garrett made a hasty retreat from the kitchen giggling away like a couple of naughty children.
"My poor sister", my head shook as my smile…

Thank you sister, I'm enjoying being home... at least until the next expedition with my soldier. You know how he sparks my adventurous side. Well, he and I ignite quite a bit in each other.. but you know how that goes as well. ~grins~
