I contemplate the deepest parts of winter. Temperatures don't matter to us. We neither feel hot nor cold so it's always perfect for us. We do keep the castle at a balmy 17 degrees (celsius), to keep our guests at their happiest.
Caius has a lot of business contacts and entertaining them is something that pleasures him greatly. We have had a few lately that he is so happy with due to his vineyard business being successful. Our grounds are vast and of course we don't tend our own grapes. We have those who come and take care of all of that for us. I do have to admit though, the scent of sweet grapes is quite enticing and a few of our workers have... mysteriously...gone missing. Such is the way of things. Most are migrant workers whom have no family near by nor do they know many people. It's easy to go missing in this part of Italy. Some of the news reports even state that perhaps some of these migrant workers wanted to go missing and that they are happily existing elsewhere off the grid, so to speak. That's nice. Let's keep that idea going, shall we?
March has come in fully and with that is the tilling of soil and the preparations for the beginning of grape season. I don't know what type of grapes we're growing. I suppose there are many varieties. We have many, many acres. Caius is happy meandering through the fields at night thinking and brewing ideas for the future; our future. When he is happy, I am happy and when we are both happy, everyone is happy. Spring here in Volterra is a time of merriment and contentment.
Business is good and we are all content and satisfied. What else could one wish for?
