I was born in the mid 1700s in New England. Today, my place of birth is called Vermont. I don't remember much about my childhood, but my father was blacksmith and my mother ran the house, taking care of my two brothers, my sister and I. At 22, I married my childhood best friend Martha Cromwell and we had three children, Thomas, Mary and Anne. We lost Anne to Pneumonia on Christmas morning 1777, at age 2. It was devastating and it did not help that I was called to serve in the Revolutionary War the day after. When I had to leave to fight in the American Revolutionary War, I kissed my wife, Thomas and Mary goodbye, not knowing it would be the last time I would ever see them. During the war, my regime and I were attacked by vampires, which resulted in my change to a vampire. I could not go back to my family like that. I would not risk their lives by being near them. All I could do was run. Occasionally, I would return and watch them from afar. Everyone believed me dead. I watched Martha in the arms of another man. In those days, it was customary for a widow to remarry. They were different times. At least I knew my children were provided for. I was able to let go and live my life as a nomad.
I have wandered the country for several decades, living live as a vampire. Once a nomad, I have finally found a home with my beloved Kate. We met during our confrontation with the Volturi shortly after Renesmee was born. She fascinated me more than any other woman has ever before, so I made a pledge to follow her to the ends of the earth. The Denali coven has welcomed me with open arms. I have since became used to their "vegetarian" diet. Though I find it less satisfying than human blood, I would do anything for Kate, including drinking animal blood. She's my world, my everything.
I've been away from Denali for the past couple of months. Sometimes, you just have to get away and recharge. Since my kind doesn't sleep, it is the best way to rid ourselves of our demons. Katie was with me for awhile, but then she had things to do, so she returned, while I stayed behind.
I spent the past few months tucked away in the mountains of Japan after acquiring an abandoned temple and turning it into a home. It is remote and the wildlife is plentiful. It is places like…Continue

Every country has their own variation of Father's Day, a day to celebrate either being a father or honoring your own father. My memories will fail with time, so I find it important to write about my life and my family who have since left the realm of the living.
My father wasn't a rich man, but he took care of us. He taught me the value of hard work and was wiser than most. He always treated my mother with respect, which was somewhat rare back in the 1700s as women technically…Continue

I know many people suffer from sadness around the holidays. Vampires are no exception. I know none of my children are alive any longer, but this is an especially hard time of year because my little Anne passed on Christmas morning exactly 237 years ago. It's a long time I know, but a parent never gets over a loss like that.Tomorrow will be the 237th anniversary of me being drafted into the Revolutionary War. So, I get especially melancholy around this time as this is when I also saw my…Continue
