What calendar do we use in Egypt?

We traditionally use the Western or Gregorian calendar. However there are a couple other calendars that have official status here in Egypt.

The Islamic calendar (A.H) is used to fix religious observances and is based on the lunar cycle of 12 months of 19 or 30 days. The Muslim year is 11 days shorter then the Gregorian calendar and moves forward accordingly.

The Coptic calendar (A.M) is based on a solar cycle and consists of 12 months of 30 days and one month having only 5 days with a 6th day added every four years. Many farmers uses an adapted version of this calendar for planting and harvesting.
